This
past May 4th 2001 marked 400 years ago that
Nathaniel Merrill
(the immigrant) was baptised in Wherstead, Suffolk, England.
It is hard to believe our ancestry spans such a long period
of time in this country. It is with great pride that we
can say that the Merrill family was one of the first families
to settle the New World.
May
4th came and went by without much fan fare to many Merrill
decendants who didn't realize how important the date was.
With this in mind, we set aside Thanksgiving,
Thursday, November 22nd 2001 as Nathaniel Merrill
Day.
There
were many families who celebrated Thanksgiving as Nathaniel
Merrill Day and included some of their genealogy in the
celebration. What were some of the things you did to mark
this once-in-a-lifetime day?
If
you haven't had a Merrill reunion for your line of family
in a while, pick a day and download the information to
the right. Create a packet of information and charts about
Nathaniel and his family tree by clicking on the links
and hand copies out at your next gathering. |
